Jesus to a child
I stood upon that bridge with all my pain and fears
And almost seemed to drown in desperate, bitter tears
But suddenly I felt a breeze so soft and mild
And then he came to me like Jesus to a child
I was about to jump when he called out my name
But I cried: “Let me go, I’m just a living shame!”
I slowly closed my eyes when he reached out his hand
And in a soft, sweet voice he said: “I understand.”
And when I turned around and looked into his eyes
The stream of tears ran dry, I saw the sunlight rise
I shivered when I took his bleeding, trembling hand
Again I heard him say: “This mustn’t be the end.”
